Scott:

Welcome to Talk with History. I'm your host, Scott, here with my wife and historian, Jen.

Jenn:

Hello.

Scott:

On this podcast, we give you insights to our history Inspired World Travels YouTube channel Journey and examine history through deeper conversations with the curious, the explorers and the history lovers out there. Now. This week we have an audio exclusive and this is kind of a Thanksgiving. We want to say thank you to our community episode.

We've been traveling around and we are just kind of on the edge of our seats trying to keep content on the table.

And so for this week, we literally just got back from being on the road for 13 hours, but we wanted to record a quick thank you episode to our audience. And so we want to thank those out there listening to the new listeners, to the folks who've been with us from the very beginning. And Jen and I, it's.

It's hard for us to express how grateful we are to our community that we get to share and start making a small business out of our passion of history, traveling to historic locations and sharing that with you, our listeners.

Jenn:

And you have really.

The people who have been with us since the very beginning or the new people who have just found us, you really have helped us to grow and to make this into something bigger than as we move as a military family and we get new locations and we get better software and we get better editing material. It's. It's just been really great to have the support and it really does give us a lot of energy. And we've had some new stuff coming out.

We just had a really great video about uncovering some Civil War history, some untold Civil War history. And there'll be a follow up episode of that coming up as well. But it's just really been great and we wanted to really say thank you.

And because of that, we wanted to open up a membership, a lifetime membership of support because we wanted to give some exclusive content to the people who have supported us for a long time.

Just a way for you to kind of communicate with us more about what you want to see and what you like and maybe talk amongst yourselves as well about history and what interests you. And so we wanted to open that up. I, I have this bumper sticker on my car and people love it.

I actually have it on my suitcase as well that says I break for historic markers, because I actually do. And it's a very good warning to the people behind us because I will put on my brake lights. And so we.

Scott:

That's very true.

Jenn:

We had about 14 of those stickers and we wanted to Offer them to our, to a lifetime member, someone who would support us and help us because this is really a labor of love. We are really still doing this out of, out of our funds and, and we're just really thankful for any help and support we get.

So we're really thankful for all of you.

Scott:

Yeah. And to echo what Jen said, I've tried. I kind of took the business approach relatively early on and I've tried multiple things.

I've tried multiple things.

I think we finally found the one that's going to work for our community, that's going to work for you because it's a one time contribution and you are a member for life.

I'm not wild about subscriptions and all the platforms that we had out there, that's kind of what they offered because they had to make their money too. So I brought it all in house. I brought it to our website and it's that website we say at the end of every single podcast.

So if you go to the URL, the history road trip and I'll put the direct link in the show notes if you don't want to try to remember that. But it's the history road trip.com, just like they say at the end of every single episode.

You can now go there, you can buy us a copy there, you can support us. Just donate, donate $2, $5, whatever it is, one time.

Or you could also become a lifetime member for one flat fee and you are a member for life if that, if that membership, lifetime membership goes up in the future, you don't have to worry about that. So it's a one time fee. You get your name at the end of the podcast episode.

I guess until we get so many names that we have a good problem that we'll have to figure out something else to do. But in the meantime, I want to thank kind of what I'll call our legacy members because our legacy members like Doug and Courtney, my dad. Hey dad.

Gale Cooper, Christy Coates, Calvin Gifford, Larry Myers and Gene Noah, these are all folks who've been with us from the very, very beginning and just recently when we announced our Walk with History lifetime membership, that one time contribution.

If you go to thehistoryroadtrip.com and you want your name at the end of the episode and you want to get your emailed exclusive content, future potential. There's a Facebook group we've set up that's just for lifetime members. It's exclusive.

Like you have to be a lifetime member to get access to this Facebook group where People can, you know, swap travel tips and ask history questions. I'm going to kind of post some exclusive content on there. So we do have some, some brand new members to that lifetime membership.

So the legacy members who had supported us in the past, I brought them in. We're giving away 10 bumper stickers and five of them are already gone.

So the first couple members that we've had so lifetime members that we've had that have paid so far is your brother Larry Mitchell. Larry Mitchell. Tommy Anderson, whom we've known for a little while. We've done some content with Susan Soulis, Bruce lynch and William Garner.

And we want to say an extra thanks to William Garner because not only did he become a lifetime member, but he also gave us a little bit more of a donation over in the other spot. So we really, really appreciate what Mr. Garner did. And I think he also had sent us the book.

Jenn:

Yeah, he sent us the book Aero Masters.

Scott:

And I'll put a link to, to his website and to that book because it's a beautiful book. If you guys want a present for World War II or an aviation history fan, you need to check this out.

But thank you again to our new lifetime members, to Larry, Tommy, Susan, Bruce and William and and to our legacy members. We thank you so much. Go to the history road trip.com you can support our work, you can buy us a cup of coffee, become a lifetime member.

And truly we thank you so much.

What we've been able to build so far is from your guys support, it's made it, we've been able to build a podcast studio and that's made it easier for us to make this content and to keep this going and to keep it growing. And we're really excited to what it is, what, what it's going to become in the future. And that's all due to your guys support.

Jenn:

Yes. And thank you. We have five more bumper stickers left. Remember I break for historic markers.

And so if you're thinking of a gift for a history buff out there, an ongoing gift, something that they can be a part of like a legacy member of something bigger.

We really plan for Walk with History to become something bigger and grow into a lot more content and a lot more diversity when it comes to history content creation. So thank you to everybody who's been part of this foundation, this grassroots content creators and as we grow and as we get bigger.

So we're really, really thankful for all of you and we just can't wait. What the new what the new year has in store for us.

Scott:

Yeah. So if you want to get on the ground floor on our Lifetime membership, there's five more bumper stickers available.

And if you want to hear your name at the end of that podcast episode, like, like what you're about to hear in just a couple minutes, go ahead, head over to the historyroadtrip.com look at the lifetime membership. If you want to contribute, we truly appreciate it. If not, and you want to just follow our website for free.

You'll get occasional updates from us on the weekly episodes and things like that. So thank you again and we'll talk to you guys next time.

Jenn:

Yeah. On to our next Walk with History.

Scott:

This has been a Walk with History production. Talk With History is created and hosted by me, Scott Benny. Episode researched by Jennifer Benny.
